Babe and I am searching for a new family. I thought I would be with my momma for the rest of my life, but my momma has Alzheimer’s, and is slowly forgetting to care for me. I like to think I have been a faithful and loving companion to my momma for all 11 years of my life, but the assisted facility thinks it is time to share my love with a new family. My human momma unfortunately has Alzheimers and it is the worst thing ever, to know that someone loves you so much, but just can’t seem to remember who I am or that I need care. My family has made this difficult decision to help me find a loving family that will care for me for the rest of my life. I am a gentle girl who would do best with an older family that can take me for walks a few times a day and help me shed a few pounds to get down to a healthier weight. I have never really been around cats or younger children, but I do ok with other dogs. I am spayed, up to date on my shots, and in general good health for my age.

The Second Chance Cocker Sanctuary will house senior Cockers in our Bed and Biscuit area, we will have a section for dogs who need training for aggression or can not be adopted because they are too dangerous, and finally we will have an adoptable dog area for dogs waiting for a foster or adopter to find them. We will continue to use foster homes as the base for our adoptable dogs, as they learn so much from living with our foster families that makes them more adoptable quickly. For our permanent residents, we will make a comfortable living area with what ever it takes to give them a good quality life. We will have paid staff living on site and lots of volunteers to help with the work load. We will need a work team of volunteers when we purchase our property to help build the dog’s buildings and create our Sanctuary.
The first thing we need is a committee of dedicated volunteers to make this dream come true…Lawyers, Realtors, business people, project managers, fundraising, researchers, etc…they will be pricing property, getting building estimates, putting together business plans, designing the theme, leading the fundraising and their goal is to make our dream a reality.
Genki (Which means, happy, be well) was found wondering on the military base in Okinawa, Japan. They tried finding her family. After a month or so of no luck, they contacted Second Chance Cocker Rescue. A beautiful, black Cocker had come to the states via military flights last year, and was adopted before she landed!
“potty outside.” They suspect she is about 6 years old, but she is a very, very young 6. She is true puppy like, has puppy curiosity.
Sometimes, life is full of surprises. That’s what happened last week when Second Chance Cocker Rescue heard about a sweet, male dog named Robin at the Baldwin Park Shelter in Southern California. We went in to pull Robin, and found out he had a mate with him. A sweet, petite girl named Princess. While we are at our capacity with many medical needs dogs, we couldn’t separate these two sweethearts! They took their freedom ride together! They both barked, “hooray!”
and other dogs. He adores his mate Princess so much, when she walks away from him he cries! Robin has infected ears and was covered with flea dirt when we got him. He has been bathed and is much more comfortable. He is a little guy, around 17 pounds.
She damaged a disk and can’t currently walk.
We were contacted by a young woman who was desperately searching for a safe place for her beloved pet. She knew that sweet June would not last long in a shelter, because June has never known anything but the loving care of her family. They had one week to find a safe place, and they reached out to Second Chance Cocker Rescue for help.
