Talia was hit by a car and taken to the shelter. We knew when we got the call that her vet bills could be high and we didn’t have much to spare but she was in so much pain when we got the call we could not say no.
he will be on bed rest for six weeks with acupuncture treatments for the nerve damage she has sustained. The estimate for her surgery and follow up care is about $4,000 but we couldn’t say no. She as sweet as they get and trusts that we will take care of her.
Lulu is completely blind at 2 years old from cataracts. We think she deserves to see for the rest of her life so we are going to make it happen. We are so grateful for your support that allows us to give Lulu this precious gift.
This year for every $25 donation towards Lulu’s cataract surgery we will enter you 15 times in our Spring Fundraiser drawing. We are giving away $500, $250 and $250 at each of our Annual Picnics. The first drawing will be at our Sacramento annual picnic on June 22 and the second will be at the Santa Barbara picnic on July 20th. Don’t forget to reserve your spot at the Picnic!

Well, it’s safe to say that I was truly smitten with that little red and white face. My husband had to go to his parents house in the morning at the last minute. So, my sister and I made the road trip together. It took us a little longer but we finally made it. Once I laid eyes on her it was settled.She slept in the backseat of my car and didn’t move the entire trafficky way home. My husband met us at the car and he instantly fell in love. She is sleeping soundly with her pink blanket and is slowly meeting Chiriaco her older brother. In keeping with the name scheme of all my family cocker spaniels..her name is Chehalis…but we still call her Roxy. Chiriaco is actually called Scooter..my little girl before her was Cheyenne–but we always called her Pookie or CheyChey Get the picture? It runs in the family. My parents two Cockers -Chiquita and Cherry Coke.We love this little Princess. She will go to the groomers at 10am tomorrow and I will send you a picture. Thanks again for all your help. This little girl was exactly what we were looking for!She loves to cuddle and is enjoying going for her walks. Thanks again!Susan
Annie was a back yard dog her whole life until she was put in the Stockton shelter for us to find. She came to us blind from juvenile cataracts at only 2-4 years old and mats as big as baseballs in her ears, but that sweet face melted our hearts and we decided that we were taking her home. Now all cleaned up she has found her forever family with the Lorfing’s but our work is not yet done, she deserves to see again. Annie is scheduled for cataract surgery March 9th. Her new family will give her the intensive after-care she will require but we are paying the bills.
Great news for us. Sweet little Anni was tested and she does not have cancer! We were worried, she had a terrible wound on her neck when she can in from Lancaster shelter. But it looks worse than it is and she had it removed on Friday along with a much needed dental. Then she was off to her new sanctuary home in Santa Maria with Vicki. As soon as she heals and rests up she will go in for a second mass removal and surgery to remove a bladder stone. Poor baby she was in so much pain when we met her but she is so happy now!
Mauled by dogs, stuffed in a crate, left behind an abandoned gas station, Pebbles was rescued by a homeless man who thought he could get a couple of dollars for the crate. Instead he found Pebbles dehydrated and bleeding. He brought her to the Santa Paula shelter for help. They gave her medical attention at their local emergency clinic, called us and even delivered her up to us. SPARC is a very special shelter, one of the truly no kill city shelters we work with and we are honored to support them.
We immediately took Pebbles to our vet for follow up care. She had been bitten repeatedly, her leg, thigh and stomach were swollen and distorted from the trauma. She was even still lactating. Heavens knows where her puppies are. Though she will always carry her scars,Pebbles, amazingly has healed up beautifully. Through it all her gentle spirit and sweet soul shine through.
A diamond by any other name still shines and so does our little Diamond. She was hit by a car and lost an eye. She is so grateful for all your support that allowed us to rescue her. We suspect that someone used to hit on the rear with her leash severely enough to cause her to have a very peculiar behavior. If you touch her rear when you are holding the leash she growls and snaps at her rear end. Then she goes back to asking for love from you. She is sweet, wonderful girl with a odd quirk and a sad history. Diamond is about 4 years old and needs a forever family. Could that be you!
A record 198 dogs rescued, 32 senior dogs in loving sanctuary homes, new teams of volunteers pulling dogs at even more shelters and all our bills paid off by end of the year. This has been a truly great year and none of it would have been possible without all of you!

Completely blind this poor mite was found by a good Samaritan wandering, frantic and disoriented by a Sacramento Marin. When they spoke to people near by they were told she had been seen being dumped out of a car that raced off. They were afraid she would fall in the water and drown so they took her home and called us. Susie, turned out to be about 4 years old, not spayed and already had mature cataracts and glaucoma. We need to get her eyes evaluated to see what, if anything, can be done for her sight.
In the mean time her foster mom reports that she is alert, incredibly sweet and loving. She LOVES belly rubs and to be in your lap and will give you endless kisses if you let her!
