JoJo Needs Your Help!

World of Angels Foundation in China contacted us again about a dog they had saved. JoJo is a sweet “rural Chinese dog” (actually a poodle) that we agreed to help after several surgeons in China worked on two of his legs and ended up with a considerable amount of damage. Little JoJo came to us with a broken front leg that is actually detached in pieces (skin is holding it together) and basically just flops around when he hops. At one point someone tried to fix it, but it was not successful and there are pieces of bone floating around. Sadly, he also has a broken rear leg that surgeons in China tried to fix three times. Unsuccessful each time. He tries to use it, but it is not weight bearing. There is significant bone damage, but our amazing surgeon thinks she can fix it! His best chance for repair is with a bone graft. That poses it’s own dilemma, where to find matching donor bone? Well, since the front leg doesn’t work anyway, his best chance will be to amputate his front leg and use his own bone for a graft in the rear leg. We are feeling a little overwhelmed with the magnitude of this, but we committed and must do our best for him. This sweet little poodle boy really needs the whole SCCR family on this one. We are waiting for a formal estimate, but know we are looking at roughly $5,000. JoJo is going to be 5 years old in May of 2024 and weighs less than 15 pounds. A truly resilient and strong willed little guy to have made it this far. Anything you can help us with is deeply appreciated by all.
