Maggie’s mom and dad passed away recently, and she needed to find another forever family! Maggie was very sad, and missed her dad so much. Yvonne fell in love instantly with her picture! Maggie was transported to her new home in San Francisco.
Update on Maggie: Hi Debra, we had a good night and she has definitely settled … Only kidding about not liking the face washing – I LOVE IT!! Maggie ate her dinner and is now on to breakfast and a couple of long walks today. Right now she’s beside my desk on HER chair looking out the window… but there is no more whining or crying… Maggie is now as calm as a cucumber. Hugs Yvonne!
We keep doing what we do, thanks to our village. Maggie is a great success story, but there are many dogs that are still in need. We continue to rescue, rehome and rehabilitate with the help of volunteers and donors. Please consider making a donation. Thank you!

The Second Chance Cocker Sanctuary will house senior Cockers in our Bed and Biscuit area, we will have a section for dogs who need training for aggression or can not be adopted because they are too dangerous, and finally we will have an adoptable dog area for dogs waiting for a foster or adopter to find them. We will continue to use foster homes as the base for our adoptable dogs, as they learn so much from living with our foster families that makes them more adoptable quickly. For our permanent residents, we will make a comfortable living area with what ever it takes to give them a good quality life. We will have paid staff living on site and lots of volunteers to help with the work load. We will need a work team of volunteers when we purchase our property to help build the dog’s buildings and create our Sanctuary.
The first thing we need is a committee of dedicated volunteers to make this dream come true…Lawyers, Realtors, business people, project managers, fundraising, researchers, etc…they will be pricing property, getting building estimates, putting together business plans, designing the theme, leading the fundraising and their goal is to make our dream a reality.

In some of the worst weather conditions imaginable, a good samaritan came across two senior dogs left outside with snow on the ground. This same person delivered them to a shelter in a nearby town. Our newest volunteer, and adopted mom of Mimi, saw them appear in a Facebook posting and decided to leap into action to help! She talked her local shelter into allowing her to foster the bonded pair. She then got in touch with Second Chance Cocker Rescue, and asked us if we would be willing to pull them, and take them under our wing. We talked to the shelter and got permission to take them into SCCR. The Cocker Spaniel, whose name is Smokey, needs immediate eye surgery due to Glaucoma, and a possible injury to the other eye as well. The other dog, Clover was given assistance with her dental issues through the shelter. We want to thank Barbara at the local shelter for being so easy to work with and for offering to take care of little Clover’s dental. Lin will continue to foster and to assist with medical care. A huge thank you to Lin for her caring heart.
We are asking for 
This poor guy was turned in by his owners last week as a “euth request.” Fortunately, the shelter did not deem him a candidate. An amazing woman got him out of the shelter, and is taking care of him. SCCR has offered to make him one of our Sanctuary Dogs.
Sometimes, life is full of surprises. That’s what happened last week when Second Chance Cocker Rescue heard about a sweet, male dog named Robin at the Baldwin Park Shelter in Southern California. We went in to pull Robin, and found out he had a mate with him. A sweet, petite girl named Princess. While we are at our capacity with many medical needs dogs, we couldn’t separate these two sweethearts! They took their freedom ride together! They both barked, “hooray!”
and other dogs. He adores his mate Princess so much, when she walks away from him he cries! Robin has infected ears and was covered with flea dirt when we got him. He has been bathed and is much more comfortable. He is a little guy, around 17 pounds.
She damaged a disk and can’t currently walk.
