Great news for us. Sweet little Anni was tested and she does not have cancer! We were worried, she had a terrible wound on her neck when she can in from Lancaster shelter. But it looks worse than it is and she had it removed on Friday along with a much needed dental. Then she was off to her new sanctuary home in Santa Maria with Vicki. As soon as she heals and rests up she will go in for a second mass removal and surgery to remove a bladder stone. Poor baby she was in so much pain when we met her but she is so happy now!

Wow, what a year!
A record 198 dogs rescued, 32 senior dogs in loving sanctuary homes, new teams of volunteers pulling dogs at even more shelters and all our bills paid off by end of the year. This has been a truly great year and none of it would have been possible without all of you!
Looking forward to this coming year, at SCCR we are looking for new ways to rescue more dogs than ever. Whether you are a once a year donor, Face Book fan, foster mom or monthly donor you are what makes the work we do possible. We thank you for being an important part of the Second Chance rescue team and helping us save lives, one Cocker Spaniel at a time.

Cali Helps Save Cocker Spaniels In Need

Santa Claws Photo Events and The Holiday Street Fair, This December
Sacramento
We will be participating in two holiday theme photo events this season. Petsmart is furnishing the equipment and Santa suit. We are providing the labor force (yeah volunteers!). The first event will be on December 10 th. at Petsmart, 1738 Watt Ave. in Sacramento (CANCELLED) and the second will be on December 17 th. at Petsmart, 2705 E. Bidwell in Folsom. Both sessions will be held from 11 AM to 4 PM. We hope a lot of our friends will bring their fur covered (or hairless would work too) companions for pictures with Santa. Each picture will cost $9.95 and Petsmart will donate $5 of that fee to Second Chance. So come on out, do a good thing, and have a photographic record of it.

December 10—We will be sponsoring along with The Pet House the Holiday Street Fair at The Pet House, 5781 Calle Real Goleta 10-3pm. There will be baked goods, jewelry by Karen, adoptable dogs, nail trimming, fun dog stuff, carolers, a wandering santa. Come on down and bring your dogs for some holiday fun.
Breast Cancer Survivor
Like most adult female dogs who have not been spayed, Gigi had many mammary tumors. that needed to be removed. It took two surgeries for a total of $1600 to remove her entire mammary chain on either side before she was ready for adoption. Debi from Los Alamos took great care of her during her recovery. Then Gig met Daphne and fell in love. Her world is now complete with her new family in Arroyo Grande.
From Unwed Mother To Love Muffin
Paulie was torn away from her new born puppies and dumped at the Bakersfield shelter where we found her scared and confused. We took her home to foster in Sacramento with Joann until she was introduced to Dean and Chalayne. It was love at first sight. She is now safe and sound in her new home in Greenbrea. Her new name is Amber and it fits her to a tee.
Elizabeth’s Birthday Celebration!
November 10, this year, is my 52nd birthday and I would like to ask all of you to share it with me. I have donated $500 to the SCCR dogs as a birthday present to myself because who needs more stuff? All donations will go to our vet bills for the cockers. Cockers like Diezel who lost an eye at 12 weeks when he got in the middle of some rough play with older dogs. He is all better now and still as handsome as always.
