Peaach Can See Today
Peaach went in for her cateract surgery this morning and by noon she could see again for the first time in a year. We are so excited. Many, many thanks to everyone but most especially Matteo, Lynn and Dennis who made all this possible after her surgery was cancelled earlier this year. Lynn found a specialist who could do it, Matteo found the funds to make it happen and Dennis is caring for her during her recovery.
We have asked our team to send us video of Peaach through this process. We will post it on facebook and this blog as soon as we have it.
Lucky Boy
We sent a transporter to pull Roby from the Baldwin Shelter. They sent home Robbie. Carolyn called thinking she was going crazy and said is this the right dog? He wasn’t even a cocker spaniel. Since we don’t return dogs we pull we Robbie lucked out. He is a SCCR boy now!
Cecil, Still A Mystery
We got Cecil in a month ago when he was just under 8 weeks. The person who bought him was told he was a maltese/yorkie mix. All we saw was a tiny 2 1/2 lb pathetic boy with no hair. He had mange and boy was he sad looking.
4 weeks later, after medicated baths, antibiotics, flea control, wormings and treatments for giardia he was starting to feel much better but still didn’t have much hair. And we still could not tell exactly what mix he was but we were sure he wasn’t a cocker!
Now at 12 weeks and over 6 lbs, his hair is coming in. You can see white paws and a white blaze on his head but we are still stumped as to what he is. Any ideas? He is feeling 100% and has turned into a healthy, happy puppy. Getting into everything and teasing the other foster dogs he is ready to go home. He will always be tiny, we are guessing anywhere from 9-15 lbs but we don’t have a clue what he will look like when all his hair finishes growing out. Anyone interested in a sweet, loving boy with a bit of mystery in his past?
Meet Trisha
We got an email from the Animal Friends of the Valley shelter that said:
“Hello,
We have a dog-friendly, people-friendly cocker spaniel in our care. Nine-year-old Trisha (#257456) was turned in via our night drop with no information about her back on 6/10. Trisha is 42 pounds, and we have been treating her for ear and eye infections. Trisha also has severe tartar on her back molars. If you are interested in pulling this sweet girl, please let me know right away. Thank you!”
Well, you know what we said!

Laverne and Shirley
We pulled two sweet girls from Moreno Valley shelter a couple of weeks ago. They had the sniffles but we were not worried. We took them to the vet and put them on antibiotic but it just seemed to get worse not better. Back to the vet they went. Our vet was treating five dogs from the same shelter that were all really, really sick.
After several days on IV antibiotics and fluids they finally started to come around. There is a nasty virus out there and we are glad our girls are better. They still need to be spayed but they will be ready for adoption soon. Thank you Carolyn and Dr Card for pulling our girls through this.
Destiny Meet Destiny
Destiny and the girl scout troop of Riverbank, CA came out last Saturday in the hot sun to help us raise money for dogs like Destiny. Yep, Destiny meet Destiny! Both Destiny’s are 6 year old blond girls with wavy curls and a big smile. What are the odds?

Meet Traegen
Meet Traegen, a 3 year old cocker boy, we pulled from the Bakersfield shelter this week. He has been severely neglected. Pus is pouring from both ears although he seems to be able to hear. And yet he is the sweetest, kindest little love, whose big brown eyes will melt your heart.
Buffy was in a sad condition at the East Valley shelter and they knew it. She was listed Rescue Only. With that tumor no way was she going to get adopted. She also had cherry eye in both eyes and terrible ears.
We pulled her and sent her off for surgery. She go her eyes fixed and got one of her mammary chains removed. She will have to wait a month to heal up before they can remove the second chain. She will be in recovery for at least two weeks after that before she will be adoptable.
PattiCakes
“Cakes” had been sitting at the Carson shelter for too long with out any interest in her at all. From her picture we could see she had at the very least a bad eye and didn’t look ver
y happy about being in the shelter. We decided that we to pull her and renamed her Patti Cakes.
She had kennel cough when she came in and even after medication she got worse and worse. She ended up at the vets on an IV with antibiotics over night. We just picked her up and she is feeling much perkier. After her recovery we got her spayed and had surgery on her bad eye. Now she is recovered and ready for adoption.
