We took Dakota in this past week after being contacted by the Humane Society shelter. She is a mature girl, 10-ish, and has a few issues. Bad teeth, not spayed, numerous mammary tumors and several unattractive little bumpy things on her face! It is very likely that she will have to have surgery in two stages. Does not like having her face held, and we think that is probably related to her severe dental disease. She is a lovely black and tan and not a delicate little girl. She is a robust 33 pounds, but not an ounce of fat. She is just a taller and longer girl. She is not ready for couch potato status yet, she is still active and wants to interact and gets pretty darn excited when the leash comes out. We will get her all fixed up as quickly as we can, but right now she has kennel cough and is in heat, so there will be no surgery yet! We are getting to know her now, so will keep everyone posted. From what we have seen so far, she is a great dog! As always, if you can help with any of her extensive surgical needs, we would sure appreciate it.
